Local author releases book promoting autism awareness

Selma author Michaela Barnes has written and illustrated a new children's book that aims to support autism awareness.

“Blue, the Missing Piece” is a mystery adventure that presents different characters as puzzle people. The Autism Puzzle Piece logo has been associated with autism since the 1960s.

“You'll find many positive messages throughout, but the main point is that it's okay to be different,” Barnes said. “I believe every child will be able to find value in themselves from this story.”
