The Lowndes County Area Chamber of Commerce (LCACOC) will hold a meeting on Thursday, Aug. 14 at the DeepWoods restaurant in Hayneville.

Items to be discussed on the agenda are: 

A summary of LCACOC’s participation in the Jonathan Myrick Daniels memorial event held on Aug. 9 at Courthouse Square in Hayneville that honored the civil rights martyr.

Discussion on four economic and community development projects:

  • A professional medical and arts building complex
  • A rural housing initiative
  • Establishment of a Lowndes County Historical Society and Museum
  • Expansion of emergency medical services and cooperative workforce development in partnership with Trenholm State Community College

Updates will be shared on the 2025-2026 Youth Ambassadors Program for students from Calhoun High School, Central High School, and Lowndes Academy.

Plans for the Annual National Small Business Award Breakfast in November.

Discussion on preparations for the October Organizational Leadership Meeting & Market Place Festival.

Discussion will include potential co-sponsorships and planning for the Christmas 2025 Parade.

A review of the status of the Lowndes County Inter-Faith Ministerial Alliance.

Plans for a historical exhibit to be held on Oct. 24 (10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) and Oct. 25 (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) and featuring noted local historian Lois Carter.

The meeting will take place at 8 a.m. at the restaurant located on 345 S Commerce Street (Highway 97) in Hayneville.
