Lowndes County residents are being offered free septic tank system installations by the Black Belt Unincorporated Wastewater Program (BBUWP).

According to WAKA, sewage issues that have arisen in the county has prompted federal money to be allocated to the program to provide residents with relief.

Exposure to raw sewage from lack of proper septic systems may lead to health problems for residents.
