Lowndes County Schools names new superintendent

Samita Jeter has been named the new superintendent of the Lowndes County School district. 

According to the Lowndes Signal, Jeter had been serving as interim since July. She is currently director of the Lowndes County Head Start program but will be resigning to focus on her new position. 

The Lowndes County Board of Education's profile on Jeter says that she attended Alabama State University where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree. 

She taught young students as she worked to earn a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She also earned a Certification in Supervision and Administration.

She worked in several teaching positions before becoming director of the County Head Start program.
