Lowndes Academy Rebels rebound to crush Valiant Cross

After suffering their first loss of the season at the hands of non-regional opponent Chambers Academy on the road, the AISA Class AAA Region 2 Lowndes Academy Rebels rebounded to crush non-regional opponent the Valiant Cross Academy Warriors for homecoming 54-6 on Oct. 3.

The Rebels had 355 yards of total offense including 156 yards through the air and 199 yards on the ground while holding the Warriors to 97 yards total offense. The Warriors had 118 yards passing but were held to -21 yards rushing.

For the Rebels, Bradyn Stokes went four for four passing for 139 yards and two touchdowns, and Kimmins Morgan went one for two passing for 17 yards.

For the Rebels, Jeremy Hardy Jr. rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns, and Crawford Dansby rushed two times for nine yards and a touchdown. Bradford Tidwell kicked six points after the touchdown.

Also for the Rebels Huston Hampton caught two passes for 87 yards and two touchdowns.

Cooper Carver led the defense with five tackles and two fumble recoveries with one being a return for a touchdown. But Dansby had four tackles, one assist and one tackle for loss.

A 24-yard touchdown run by ninth grader Maddox Smith rounded out the scoring.

With the win, the Rebels improved to 6-1 overall and remained 3-0 in regional play.

The Rebels will travel to face regional opponent Morgan Academy on Oct. 10.
