A man is dead after being involved in a boating incident on Lake Demopolis on Sunday afternoon.
Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says the accident occurred at around 2:22 p.m. when Bruce R. Kornegay, 70, of Woodstock, was ejected from the 2019 18ft Bass Tracker vessel he was operating on the lake. After he was ejected he was struck by the vessel, severely injuring him.
"Kornegay was not using an emergency cut-off switch and was also not wearing a personal flotation device (PFD) at the time of the incident," said ALEA Capt. Jeremy J. Burkett in the report.
He was then taken to Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis but later died of his injuries.Â
The accident took place on Lake Demopolis near the Tombigbee River in Marengo County. Troopers with ALEA's Marine Patrol Division are investigating.
