A man from Montgomery is facing a charge of first-degree arson for allegedly setting fire to the home of his ex-girlfriend. 

According to WSFA, the incident took place at the 3200 block of Money Road around 7:30 a.m. Witnesses reportedly saw the suspect near the building when it caught fire. 

After an investigation John Dillard McAvoy III, 39, was identified as the suspect. He was arrested and placed in the Montgomery County Detention Facility. 

The investigation is currently ongoing.
