A judge has sentenced a Prattville man to nine years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm after an altercation in Montgomery in 2025.

A statement from U.S. Attorney Kevin Davidson said that officers responded to an area in downtown Montgomery where gunshots were heard during a fight between a man and a woman.

When officers arrived another shot was heard and several people were seen fighting. A man fled from the scene and was observed discarding a gun.

He was caught and later identified as Harry Deonta Bailey, 33. He was found to have a second gun during the arrest.

Bailey was convicted for prior felonies in Georgia and Alabama and was prohibited from possessing guns or ammunition. He pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm in December of 2025.
