The Marengo County Historical Society is the Demopolis Chamber of Commerce's Business of the Month for January.Â
According to their site the society was organized on Sept. 7, 1961 and is membership-based. It became a non-profit in 1967. It owns Bluff Hall, Lyon Hall and Laird Cottage.Â
"Through their work, the Historical Society plays an important role in promoting Demopolis and Marengo County as a place worth visiting," said a social media post by the chamber. "By welcoming guests and highlighting what makes our community unique, they help bring visitors into our area—benefiting local businesses and strengthening pride in the place we call home."
"Beyond preservation, they are known for their willingness to help and dedication to our community, always ready to assist with research, education, and sharing our story with others."
