Marion Academy has renewed its Cognia accreditation, continuing a 25-year streak of national performance recognition.
Formerly named AdvancED, Cognia is the parent organization of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI), and Northwest Accreditation Commission (NWAC).
A press release from Marion Academy said that earning a Cognia accreditation means that the school has attained national performance standards.
“School accreditation as conferred by the Cognia Global Accreditation Commission provides Marion Academy a nationally recognized mark of quality,” said Kristin Helton, administrator and teacher. “It demonstrates to our community our commitment to excellence, our openness to external review and feedback, and our desire to be the best we can be on behalf of the students and families we serve.”
Additionally, earning the accreditation requires that a school implement a "continuous" process of improvement and to submit to external and internal review.
“Cognia Accreditation is a rigorous process that focuses the entire school and its community on the primary goal of preparing lifelong learners in engaging environments where all students can flourish," said Dr. Mark A. Elgart, president and CEO of Cognia.
"Marion Academy has demonstrated that it has continually met high standards and made progress on key indicators that impact student learning. Maintaining their accredited status for over 25 years highlights a commitment to the quality and improvement of the education provided.”
