The Marion Military Institute (MMI) community is mourning the loss of two cadets who were killed in a car accident on Saturday, March 23.

MMI identified the lost cadets as Brody Hall, 18, and Brandon Stewart, 24.

"The entire MMI community is in mourning, and our prayers are with their bereaved families," said a statement on MMI's Facebook page, adding, "Two other cadets were injured in the accident, and we pray for their recovery during this time."

MMI will conduct a memorial for Hall and Stewart in the Brody and Brandon on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the MMI Chapel, with visitors welcome to attend.

The cadets died in a single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7:50 p.m. Saturday, according to Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division.

Stewart, of Madison, was fatally injured when the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee he was driving on Dallas County 45 near U.S. 80 left the roadway and struck a tree. Hall, an 18-year-old passenger in the Jeep, was also fatally injured. Stewart and the teen were both pronounced deceased at the scene that was 15 miles south of Marion.

Additional passengers, Sydney D. Easterling, 19, of Houston, Texas, and another 18-year-old, were both injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
