Rep. Mike Rogers (AL-03) recently spoke on multiple topics related to the future of warfare and other subjects at the Anthony J. Rane Center for Leadership at Marion Military Institute (MMI).Â
Rogers was honored as MMI's first Distinguished Speaker of the Year at the event.Â
"As Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Rep. Rogers delivered an insightful speech on national security, explaining the global world order in great detail," said a post on social media. "He touched on topics such as Russian aggression, threats from China, drone capabilities, and the high-tech future of warfare.
"His emphasis onrapid Space Force expansion and defending satellites spurred additional questions from cadets, many of whom will serve in the U.S. military."
Rogers also spoke on supporting military families with investments of an estimated $4.5 billion in the past year. These include pay raises, as well as housing, education, spousal employment and childcare improvements through federal services.Â
Also in attendance were Jimmy Rane, Greg Rane and James Rane of Great Southern Wood Preserving. Jimmy Rane is a graduate of MMI from 1964 and James Rane is a trustee.Â
They and Rogers stood for a customary pass in review by the MMI Corps of Cadets before attending a luncheon with cadet leadership and senior staff members.Â
