The Montgomery County Commission was recently granted $75,243 from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA).

The funding will go towards purchasing mobile data terminals that will allow deputies access to up-to-date law enforcement information while on patrols, said an announcement from ADECA.

“As always, public safety is a top priority, and properly equipping our law enforcement officers is a necessity,” said Gov. Kay Ivey. “These devices will be a powerful tool for the sheriff’s office as it serves and protects communities in Montgomery County and contributes to joint efforts to reduce crime in the Capital City.”

The funding was awarded through the federal Project Safe Neighborhoods and administered from ADECA.

“Technology like this is critical for modern law enforcement,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. “ADECA joins Gov. Ivey in support of this needed equipment update to help the men and women of the Montgomery Sheriff’s Office.”
