The Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) was celebrated at a recent meeting of the county commission after it was certified StormReady by the National Weather Service (NWS).

"This designation reflects years of planning, training, and coordination to ensure Montgomery is prepared to respond to severe weather and emergencies," said an announcement from the Montgomery County Commission on Tuesday.

According to NWS's website the StormReady program helps strengthen communication and weather safety precautions.

"StormReady is not just a label, but a national standard that signals strong warning systems, clear communication, and a commitment to protecting lives and property," added the announcement.
