MFR recovers body from lake

Workers from the Montgomery Fire/Rescue (MFR) recovered the body of a missing swimmer from the Elmore portion of Lake Martin on Wednesday. 

"This afternoon, Montgomery Fire Rescue responded to a request for assistance involving a missing swimmer at Chimney Rock," said an announcement from MFR. "Crews worked alongside multiple partner agencies in a coordinated and extended search effort under challenging conditions."

According to the announcement six divers were deployed to search the water and was able to locate the body of the swimmer several hours later. 

WSFA reported that the swimmer was identified as Jayden Barreto, 24. No foul play is suspected. 

MFR credited the Elmore County Sheriff’s Office, Delta Division Dive Team, ALEA, Montgomery EMA, and Elmore EMA for their assistance.
