Several responders from the Montgomery Fire/Rescue (MFR) Department were honored for their life-saving efforts at two recent sporting events.Â
According to a post on MFR's social media, Sergeant Zante Carlis and Firefighter/Paramedic Nathan Woodall "happened" on someone who was experiencing a medical emergency that was said to be serious.Â
Woodall reportedly made "crucial and lifesaving decisions" to save the person's life as he was being mentored by Carlis that day. The patient later recovered after being transported to a hospital.Â
"The actions taken on that day bears testimony to the results from months of hard work and a commitment to a Spirit of Excellence in providing service to our community," said MFR's post.Â
Additionally, four other responders were honored for saving a person after a football game. Similarly they "happened" on the patient, who was unconscious.Â
"They worked as a team in rendering medical care in a timely manner to determine the cause, assess the cardiac condition of the patient and administer appropriate medication, treatment and transport," says a separate post on social media by MFR.Â
The patient was also able to recover after a stay at a hospital.Â
