Montgomery Whitewater has partnered with the Birmingham-based Lakeshore Foundation for "Everyone Can Ride - Youth Adapted Cycling Event" on Nov. 8.
The event is aimed at children of all abilities who are ages 12 and under. Adaptive bicycles will be provided for children with disabilities.
“This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for both organizations,” said Jason Wilson, Executive Director of Montgomery Whitewater. “We’re building a platform for inclusive outdoor recreation where every child—regardless of ability—can experience the joy of movement, confidence, and community in the outdoors.”
Participants can register at the Little Hammies website. Entry fees are $15 per rider, with an optional $25 coaching session beginning at 9 a.m.
Adaptive riders can apply for a scholarship to participate by emailing Kevin Orr at the Lakeshore Foundation at kevino@lakeshore.org.
“We hosted our first Little Hammies event last year and recently hosted a second race this summer. It was so wonderful to see children of all ability levels race, laugh, and play together,” said Chris Thomason, Chief Advancement Officer at Lakeshore. “Since our earliest days, Lakeshore has been about fitness, health and inclusion. This event fits our mission so well.”
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Montgomery Whitewater's location on 1100 Maxwell BLVD.
