A woman from Montgomery died after being involved in a crash that took place in Autauga County on early Sunday morning.Â
According to a statement from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Shanetta D. Merriweather, 22, was the passenger of a 2020 Chevrolet Malibu being driven by Dartavius E. McCants, 32, also of Montgomery.Â
At approximately 4:51 a.m. the Malibu left the road and struck a guardrail. Meriweather was reportedly not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. McCants was also injured.Â
Both were transported to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment. Meriweather later died of her injuries.Â
The crash took place on Interstate 65 near the 190 mile marker, approximately four miles north of Pine Level in Autauga County.
