Multimillion-dollar development planned for downtown

Plans include new bridge over the river, hotel, stores, lofts.

A Florida developer has multimillion-dollar plans for Selma.

Sam Harris III of Samjen Residential & Commercial Realty of Tampa said his company’s plans include a mixed-use development downtown and new businesses for Craig Field Airport and Industrial Authority. Plans could even include a new bridge over the Alabama River.

Harris previously confirmed the purchase of the Tepper’s Building at 25 Broad St. and the Melvin Heinz Building at 1006 Alabama Ave. On Jan. 6, he said his company is looking at bringing a mixed-used development to downtown Selma that will include “hotel, retail, co-working space and lofts.” He said those will include restaurants and meeting space and a parking deck.
