Montgomery city and county authorities held a press conference on Monday to announce the results of a months-long crimefighting effort titled "Operation Southern Star.

Montgomery Police Department Chief James Graboys began the press conference by stating that the operation was a coordinated effort from multiple agencies that targeted violent crimes.

"We intend never to stop and we intend only to keep moving forward in making arrests and holding people accountable," he said before turning it over to Sarah Jones, who is the Special Agent in Charge of the FBI's Mobile Field Office.

She shared the results of police operations over the past two weeks. There were 63 total arrests, 52 guns recovered, 40 drug seizures, seven search warrants executed and $10,341 in currency seized.

"The FBI surged resources drawing both locally and nationally upon our expertise and special agent intelligence analyst, tactical specialist, and digital forensic examiner cadre of personnel who worked collectively with our partners jointly side by side in an effort to locate and arrest the most violent offenders in and around Montgomery, truly taking those most violent drivers of violence off the streets," she said.
