Pop megastar Ed Sheeran surprised hundreds of fans in a UK city center over the weekend by performing a three-hour-long impromptu concert.

The "Shape of You" hitmaker thrilled supporters in Sheffield, South Yorks., by performing a gig on the city's town hall steps at around 7 p.m. on Sunday.

He announced the surprise gig on Instagram just an hour before and played songs including "Don't," "Peru" and his newest single "Azizam."

An incredible video even shows hundreds of fans gathered around the "Thinking Out Loud" singer, who is singing his Grammy-winning 2017 song "Shape of You."

The Ipswich-born singer-songwriter performed the concert in support of group TRACKS - who help young people break into the music industry.

Alongside singing his own hits, he performed alongside London-based TikTok sensation DJ AG, who is known for doing surprise gigs, and youngsters from TRACKS.

This comes after the singer, who was born in Halifax, West Yorks., announced in February that his charity, the Ed Sheeran Foundation, would provide the group with three years of funding.

Sheffield City Council leader Tom Hunt, who was in the crowd, described the gig as "brilliant" and said it showed that the steel city is "bursting with talent."

He told the BBC: "It really underscores the fact that we are a music city with an incredible pedigree of artists coming out of the city but, more importantly, that we are bursting with talent.

"There are so many young people, performers in doing all sorts of music in this city, who, if given the spotlight, like they're being given tonight, will go on to shine."
