A famously wonky 17th-century house that is loved by tourists has hit the market - for $867,750.

The Crooked House, also known as Sir John Boys House, in Canterbury, Kent, has become one of the city's most iconic landmarks due to its slanted appearance.

Named in memory of Sir John Boys, an MP and the first recorder of Canterbury, it is widely said to be the city's most photographed building.

An internal chimney slipping gave the home its asymmetrical appearance, leaving the doorway slanted.

The half-timbered building, at the end of Palace Street, has been used as a gallery, a school outfit shop, and an instrument shop.

Most recently it was occupied by the Catching Lives charity as a second-hand bookshop.

Estate agents Christopher Hodgson is now offering the chance to own the Grade II listed commercial premises for $867,750.

"The Crooked House, also known as Sir John Boys House, is a delightfully skewed 17th-century half-timbered building situated on the King's Mile.

"This charming historic landmark is renowned for its distinctive appearance and rich architectural character and is widely regarded as one of the most photographed tourist attractions in the city."
