A vintage Lambretta scooter once owned by Paul Weller could fetch $62,000.

The 1965 Li 150 Special "Stanley Road" model features designs based on those by celebrated artist Peter Blake.

The former frontman of The Jam and The Style Council used it to pose for promotional shots in Margate for his 1995 solo "Stanley Road" album.

Weller had previously donated the Lambretta to a CancerBACUP benefit concert with a charity auction, where he signed it, along with Peter Blake.

Lucas Gomersall, specialist at H&H Classics, said: “There are special scooters, and then there are very, very special scooters, in a league of their own for desirability and collectability.

“We’re thrilled to be auctioning this amazing scooter once owned by Paul Weller, a musical genius and a name synonymous with scooters and the Mod revival.”

The Lambretta is offered with several items of memorabilia, including copies of Scootering magazine, a limited-edition print of the original photoshoot in Margate with Paul Weller, and a framed copy of the Stanley Road album.

The scooter is one of 328 auction lots at the H&H Classics at the National Motorcycle Museum on July 22.

Released in 1995, Stanley Road was a major commercial success, reaching number one in the UK Albums Chart and becoming one of Weller’s best-selling solo records.
