David Evans, Pano Awards founder and curator, said: “The aerial perspective opens up so much of the world above tripod level and the panoramic format lends itself beautifully to this way of seeing.”

Other winners included Mikel Iraeta of Spain, who took the Open Nature and Landscape category with “Double arch on Milford Sound”; Xuecheng Liu of the United States, who won Open Built Environment with a 25-frame aerial panorama of Times Square; and Xuejun Long of China, who won Amateur Aerial with “Journey of Life,” photographed at Lake Magadi in Kenya. Tomás Sánchez Ruiz was named Amateur Photographer of the Year.
