A woman earns $22,000 a month renting out her backyard pool for parties and production shoots.

Rajaa Chraibi, 35, started renting her pool out in 2020 because of the nice weather, film business, and tourism in Los Angeles.

In her first month, she earned $5,000 and realized it would be a worthwhile side hustle.

From there, the real estate agent bought four more properties in Los Angeles all with pools, which she rents out for private parties, business events, and even production companies - using money she has earned from the side hustle.

On average, Rajaa earns $22,000 a month, including around $5,000 to $6,000 from her personal pool at home.

In her best month, Rajaa said she earned $70,000 and has used all the money to build up her property portfolio.

Rajaa, owner and founder of High-End Estates, said: "My backyard pool at home brings in around $5,000 to $6,000 a month.

"All my other pools combined bring in an average of $22k a month, and the most I have earned is $70k.

"I have used the money to invest in other properties.

"The extra income has allowed me to feel more comfortable buying more properties with a pool and a nice view.

"I don't have to worry about mortgages or anything like that."

Working as a real estate agent, Rajaa was able to view properties with amazing views and pools across the city.

Rajaa started by renting out her pool at home, and when she saw the demand, she expanded to other properties in her portfolio.

She said: "I work with a lot of real estate, and a lot of properties out here have swimming pools - and the benefit of having great weather.

"We have a lot of tourism here also. We have people who want to hire out homes for parties and events.

"So I thought, why not, and after the first month of doing it - I saw it was profitable."

Rajaa has five properties in Los Angeles and two in Morocco, where she was born.

She said her hourly rates depend on how many people want to use the property and what for.

Rajaa said: "It depends on the property; some of them are more desirable than others.

"It also depends on the size, location, and what it has to offer the guests.

"Renting out the property and pool to one guest is not the same as renting to a group of guests."

Rajaa said she puts three hours of work a week into her side hustle, which is spent making sure the listings are up to date and inquiries are answered.

She has also enlisted the help of a team to clean the pool and maintain the landscaping.

Rajaa said: "In the beginning, I was doing everything myself.

"I now have a team of people who help me. I have a pool cleaning company and a landscaping company to help.

"I also have a site manager who will manage events when I need them to.

"When you assign jobs, it becomes much easier."
