The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) has granted $250,000 to Trendco USA as they locate to Macon County where nearly 300 jobs are expected to be created.
The funds are Community Development Block Grant or CDBG funds that were given to the Macon County Commission in order to provide infrastructure for the location.
Trendco produces nitrile gloves used in the medical field. The company is slated to set up shop in Regional East Alabama Logistics (REAL) Park in Tuskegee.
“Trendco’s decision to open a plant in Alabama, and particularly in Macon County, is a decision that will pay dividends for the company while providing new jobs for the area,” Gov. Kay Ivey said in an announcement. “I am pleased to support this project and look forward to seeing the excellent job opportunities for area residents.”
During the first five years in operation the company will hire 292 people, said the announcement. The grant will be used to build an industrial access road from REAL Park to the Trendco plant, as well as a right-turn lane into the park from Alabama Highway 186.
“ADECA is pleased to join Gov. Ivey in playing a role in a project that will provide jobs in Macon County and the surrounding area,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. “I commend those local leaders that helped make this project a reality."
