West Alabama Highway

Officials will gather for a ceremony in Demopolis to announce the project field office for West Alabama Highway on Monday, April 28.

The announcement will be made at 10 a.m. at the location of a former grocery store on 1602 U.S. Highway 80.

Demopolis Mayor Woody Collins will be joined by State Senator Bobby Singleton and Tony Harris of the Alabama Department of Transportation.

"The field office will serve as the central construction hub for the multi-year effort to build a four-lane divided highway from Thomasville to Moundville," said a press release. "At peak construction, the West Alabama Highway is expected to employ 700 workers."
