The Perry County PREP Center in Uniontown was part of a discussion during a meeting held last week by Reentry Alabama, also known as the Study Commission on Interagency Cooperation and Collaboration on the Rehabilitation of Formerly Incarcerated Individuals.
The meeting was held to address ways to reduce recidivism rates in Alabama.
“We tailor programming at PREP based upon individual needs and not just a cookie cutter approach,” Reentry Alabama Chair and Alabama Bureau of Pardons & Paroles Director Cam Ward said. “Out of nearly 300 graduates, I’m proud to say today, we have not had a single person return to prison. It works – the programming works.”
Featured at the meeting were several members who delivered presentations, including Associate Board Member Darryl Littleton who talked about the Board’s examination process and the PREP Center.
CSG Justice Center’s Reentry 2030 Program Director Jesse Kelley delivered a preview of the Reentry System Assessment and Jonathan McNair, Communications and Public Relations Specialist for the Department of Workforce discussed the workforce development and job fair programming targeting justice-involved individuals.
