R&B star Usher made a surprise appearance in Selma on Monday to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
On social media, Usher said he "decided to celebrate this day by visiting this historical site, where brave men and women protested for the change we see today. It’s an honor to be walking in your footsteps here in Selma, Alabama."
Usher is from Atlanta.
Selma residents learning of his visit on Facebook commented welcoming messages and encouragement to be a good role model for young men today.
