Robert Stewart

Sen. Robert Stewart will host a fire and public safety town hall in Selma on April 21 in what was described as an effort to raise awareness in the community.

"Fire and public safety is a community project, and it takes all of us working together to protect our homes, our families, and our neighborhoods," said Robert in a press release announcing the meeting.

The announcement cited the December 2025 incident in which Nedlene Gordon, 64, of Selma, died during a house fire.

"We need to do all we can to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in our community by educating ourselves now," Stewart said. "Let's come together and do our part to keep our community safe."

State Fire Marshall Scott Pilgreen and Selma Councilor Jannie Thomas will be present at the meeting, to take place at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church on 1306 Union Street.
