Selma and Blackbelt Regional Abuse Sanctuary (SABRA) has received a grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) in the amount of $20,900.

“Domestic violence victims in the Black Belt should have access to safe shelter and professional services like those provided by SABRA,” Gov. Kay Ivey said in an announcement. “I commend the efforts of the staff members who work to protect victims and their families every day.”

In addition to Dallas, SABRA serves domestic violence victims in Greene, Marengo, Perry, Sumter and Wilcox counties. ADECA administered the funds from the U.S. Justice Department.

“I join Gov. Ivey in support of SABRA and the services it offers for domestic violence victims and their families,” ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell said. “ADECA is pleased to partner with the organization to ensure that all abuse victims in these counties have access to safe shelter and assistance.”
