Uniontown Water Tower

The Alabama Department of Environmental Management is making more then $150,000 in loans available to the city of Uniontown Waterworks and Sewer Board.

Local and state law enforcement agencies are investigating a murder in Uniontown early Sunday morning.

Uniontown Police Chief Mike Kiser said a 26-year-old woman was killed in the city’s first homicide of the year. Uniontown police say an arrest was made on Monday, however few details have been released.

The case is being handled by the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation. Kiser asked the community to provide any information that could be relevant to the case by calling Uniontown Police or SBI in Montgomery.

“We are praying for the loved ones and friends affected by this tragedy,” Uniontown police said in a statement on social media Monday. “This violence is senseless and has no place in our society!”
