The Selma Charity League raised $9,000 at its recent fundraising event, "Brunch, Bloom & Bogeys."
The event, which took place on April 13 at the Tin Cup at Valley Grande Golf Course, brought together individuals and businesses from across the community in support of All Things Are Possible - Learning Fun and Fitness STEM Camp.
"Brunch, Bloom & Bogeys" attendees had the opportunity to participate in a range of engaging activities, including a silent auction, a thrilling chipping contest, a creative "Build a Bouquet" station, and an exciting draw-down raffle.
The brunch catering was provided by the Edmundite Missions, a social enterprise. Bama Bud and Pepsi donated the drinks for the event.
"We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we received during this event," said Haley Burton, Event Organizer and member of the Selma Charity League. "The enthusiasm and generosity of everyone who participated truly made a difference in supporting All Things Are Possible- Learning Fun and Fitness STEM Camp. I loved coordinating the event and it was wonderful to see the community come together with food, golf and flowers to embrace the arrival of Spring. Being able to donate to All Things Possible fills me with joy."
The highlight of the event was the amount raised to support All Things Are Possible - Learning Fun and Fitness STEM Camp. Thanks to the collective efforts of attendees, sponsors, and Charity League members (both active and sustainers), $9,000 was raised. This substantial contribution will directly benefit the summer enrichment camp, providing opportunities for at risk children to learn, grow, and explore in a supportive and engaging environment.
"We are proud to support All Things Are Possible - Learning Fun and Fitness STEM Camp with this year's event," says Heidi O'Quinn, President of Selma Charity League. "The summer program is a direct investment in the joy and growth of young minds in our community."
Pastor John Grayson, who heads up outreach for All Things Possible, expressed his gratitude for the Charity League's efforts, stating, "We are so blessed the women of the Charity League put on this amazing event. It was just such a blessing. These funds will help our camp which focuses on supporting 100-plus at-risk youth have a safe place to participate in outdoor activities, attend trips, learn basic living and career readiness skills, receive academic support, increase literacy, learn about agricultural and financial literacy, attend daily devotionals and even get free reading glasses. We are just so blessed by the ladies of the Charity League and want to give a big Thank You!"
Since 1931, the Selma Charity League has been actively involved in improving the social, economic, educational, civic, and cultural conditions of the Dallas County community. This commitment to holistic community development is reflected in the success of events like "Brunch, Bloom & Bogeys," which not only raise funds but also foster a sense of unity and support among community members.
"The success of 'Brunch, Bloom & Bogeys' is a testament to the generosity and compassion of our community," Burton said. "We are thrilled to see the positive impact this fundraising effort will have on the lives of children in need." The Selma Charity League extends heartfelt thanks to all attendees, sponsors, donors, and league members who contributed to the success of this event. Together, we are making dreams possible for children in our community.
