Kenworth Dump Truck

The Selma City Council took the steps to keep new dump trucks cycling through the city’s public works department.

Sept. 9 the city council declared two dump trucks as surplus so they could be auctioned off. The money generated by the auction will be used to lease two new trucks.

Public Works Director Henry Hicks Sr. told the city council at their work session earlier this month that the demand for dump trucks exceeds supply, so a used truck sell for a high price. That price is enough to lease a new truck, which allows the city to cycle new trucks through their inventory.

This is the second round of the truck sell-and-purchase plan.
