Selma Housing Authority

The Selma Housing Authority (SHA) has been awarded a $5 million Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

The funds will be used to aid SHA in ongoing disaster recovery efforts.

“This $5 million CDBG-DR grant represents a transformative investment in our community’s future,” said SHA President Kennard Randolph. “These funds will enable us to accelerate recovery efforts, restore safe and affordable housing for families, and ensure that our most vulnerable residents are not left behind."

"We are grateful to HUD and our federal partners for their continued commitment to communities like Selma as we rebuild stronger and more resilient than before. We also extend our sincere thanks to Governor Kay Ivey and ADECA Director Kenneth Boswell for their leadership and support in helping make this critical investment possible”

A press release from SHA stated that the funds will be used for improving housing infrastructure, rehabilitating damaged properties, expanding affordable housing opportunities, and implementing "strategic" recovery initiatives.

“Securing this funding is pivotal to the redevelopment of George Washington Carver complex”, stated Win Yerby, President of Hollyhand Development, LLC, which is SHA's development partner on the George Washington Carver redevelopment project.

“We appreciate the Selma Housing Authority’s leadership in obtaining the funding and also appreciate the critical support of the Dallas County Commission and the City of Selma. We look forward to working with local leadership as we move forward with redevelopment of the project.”
