On Dec. 4, Timical Hall and Tyre J. Webster of Selma were sentenced for the armed carjacking of a woman in Valley Grande, according to the office of U.S. Attorney for the Southern District Richard W. Moore.
This follows the sentencing of a third man, Rayford D. Mitchell, who was sentenced to 130 months imprisonment.
According to a press release from the U.S. attorney’s office, the three men perpetrated the carjacking of a female victim on Feb. 5 this year. The victim was parked on the side of a road in Valley Grande when the three drove up behind her in a stolen Nissan Altima.
Armed and wearing masks, they ordered the victim out of the car, with Mitchell throwing her to the ground and holding a gun to her. They then demanded her wallet and cell phone before Hall and Webster fled the scene in the Nissan and Mitchell fled in the victim’s car.
All three suspects were captured by law enforcement officers, who also found found them in possession of weapons, including an “AK-style firearm”.
In August, Hall pleaded guilty to carjacking and brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. A week after Hall’s plea, Webster pleaded guilty to carjacking and conspiring to commit carjacking.
The two were sentenced on Dec. 4 by Senior United States District Judge Callie V.S. Granade. Hall was sentenced 121 months imprisonment, with 37 months from the carjacking charge and 86 months from the gun charge.
After completion of his sentence, Hall will serve five years of supervised release. Webster was sentenced to 36 months imprisonment and three years of supervised release.
The case was investigated by the Selma, Alabama Firearms Enforcement (S.A.F.E.) Task Force and prosecuted Assistant United States Attorneys Gina Vann and Erica Hilliard.
