Illegal dumping suspect

The Selma Police Department (SPD) is asking for help in identifying a suspect of illegal dumping. 

An announcement from the department said that illegally dumping trash in the area of Church Street and Minter Ave.

"Illegal dumping not only creates health and safety hazards, but it also negatively impacts our neighborhoods and property values," said the announcement. 

According to the department illegal dumping is a violation of Code of Alabama § 13A-7-29, also called criminal littering. 

It can be classified as a misdemeanor and can carry fines, court costs, and possible community service. Repeated or large-scale offenses can result in "enhanced" penalties.

Anyone who has information is asked to call the SPD at 334-874-5894.
