Selma was one of three cities in Alabama to receive a grant from T-Mobile to be used for community projects.

T-Mobile’s Hometown Grants Program provided grants to 25 towns throughout the nation that will go to development projects. Selma received $49,000 for the Riverfront and Amphitheater area, which overlooks Edmund Pettus Bridge and the Alabama river.

"Private/public partnerships always benefit the community. This partnership is no exception," said Mayor James Perkins Jr. "On behalf of the City of Selma and her citizens, we appreciate T-Mobile granting resources that will be used to improve the quality of life within Selma."

In addition to Selma, Fairfield will receive $50,000 to repair the swimming pool in the Jerry D. Coleman Community Center. Northport will receive $46,000 for a public-access wi-fi network.
