The Southside-Selma Panthers gave their homecoming crowd plenty to cheer about Friday night, delivering a commanding 66-0 victory over the Sumter Central Jaguars at the Panther Stadium.

With the win, Southside improves to a perfect 7-0 on the season and 5-0 in region play for the first time in the school's history.

From the opening kickoff, the Panthers set the tone with explosive offense, stifling defense, and big plays on special teams. The defense was equally dominant, and the Panthers’ front line pressured the Jaguars all night, forcing multiple turnovers and limiting Sumter Central to negative yardage through much of the game.

“We were really pleased with how the boys played,” said head coach Charles Moody. “Everyone was going in the right direction and moving with conviction. We only had a couple of mistakes that is easy to clean up. We were happy to see the young guys play well. Everyone got a chance to play and they did well. We are working on knowing exactly what we are supposed to do, adjusting to formations and being fast at diagnosing plays.”

Homecoming festivities brought out alumni and community supporters in full force, and the Panthers gave them a night to remember. With the crowd roaring and the band playing, Southside showed why they’re a team to watch this postseason.

With three games left in the regular season, Southside will look to maintain their unbeaten streak and secure a top seed heading into the playoffs.

Southside's Homecoming court included: Miss Freshman Adrianna Bennett; Miss Sophomore Earlayshia Bender; Miss Junior Ja'Meria Hardy; Mr. Junior Jai'Veon Harrison; Miss Junior Runner-Up Adreonna Heatly; Miss Junior Second Runner-Up Khamarie Livingston; Miss Southside MaKayla Smith
