During a press conference in Carrolton on Friday, Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) announced a $637,195 grant to build a new 911 emergency communications facility.

Sewell was joined by Pickens County Emergency Management Agency and E-911 Director Lakitha Bell.

“We in Alabama are no strangers to severe weather,” said Sewell in a statement. “When disaster strikes, it is essential that our communities have the infrastructure needed to respond quickly and efficiently. It can make the difference between life and death."

"These critical upgrades will help ensure that local officials can continue to keep people safe during natural disasters, fires, medical emergencies, and other life-and-death situations. I fought hard to get this funding included in the 2024 federal budget and I look forward to seeing the impact it will have here in Pickens County.”

"On behalf of the Pickens County E-911 Board, we are overjoyed to receive these much-needed federal funds that will go towards erecting a much-needed new 911 communications facility,” said Pickens County Emergency Management Agency and E-911 Director Lakitha Bell. “I want to say thank you to Representative Sewell and her entire staff for allowing us this opportunity to apply."
