Thomasville police officer Dallas Hinton was among other fallen policemen to be honored during a memorial ceremony held at the Alabama State Capitol by the Alabama Fraternal Order of Police (FOP).
Hinton was noted as passing just days ahead of the ceremony that took place on Friday. His memorial service was held in Thomasville on Wednesday.
“Today, we are reminded that behind every name etched in stone is a story, a life of service, a family who loved them and a community forever changed,” said Alabama Law Enforcement Secretary Hal Taylor. “The pain of losing one of our own is not something we leave behind. It travels with us, strengthens our resolve, and deepens our commitment to stand in the gap for the people we serve.”
Others to be honored were Irondale Police Department Lieutenant Mark Meadows, Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) Senior Conservation Enforcement Officer Shawn Nixon, and Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) – Birmingham Field Office Supervisory Special Agent Todd Spiker.
“We honor them not only with words, but with how we carry forward their legacy,” said Taylor. “We remain committed to ensuring their sacrifice was not in vain and that their memory continues to guide us in our mission.”
