Troy University

Troy University has launched the Sorrell College of Business Center for Artificial Intelligence Research and Education at its Montgomery campus.

“AI is no longer just a tool for data scientists. Business leaders must understand how to leverage AI strategically, manage risk, and ensure ethical deployment,” said Sorrell College Dean Dr. Judson Edwards during a recent press conference.

“The AI Center will provide that foundational support for business, industry, military and educational needs, and brings together experts who are committed to educating not only our students but the greater community in this emerging field.”

An announcement from the university stated that the center will collaborate with regional businesses, government agencies and industry partners to use AI for economic growth.

“We are building relationships with small businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, and financial professionals, and offering strategic guidance on the evolving policy landscape,” said Amanda Senn, Director of the Alabama Securities Commission.

“[Troy’s] initiative is closely aligned with our work, and we look forward to partnering with the University to position Alabama as a leader in AI education and innovation.”

In addition to certificate programs and consulting services it is hoped that a AI-focused Master of Business Administration degree will be offered in the future.

The announcement adds that the center is set to give students "hands-on experience in AI applications, case studies from real-world business challenges and insights into the regulatory and ethical considerations of AI deployment."
