An announcement from the Middle District of Alabama has announced that Jonathan S. Ross resigned effective Aug. 24 and has been replaced by Kevin P. Davidson from Montgomery.

During his time as U.S. Attorney Ross "prioritized" prosecution of violent offenders, which included possession of machine gun conversion devices, and narcotics dealers.

“It has been an honor to serve the people of the Middle District of Alabama over the past ten years,” said Ross. “I am thankful to all the federal, state, and local law enforcement partners for their support during my time with the Justice Department."

"These agencies, in addition to the professional and talented staff at the U.S. Attorney’s Office, are responsible for any achievements I had as a federal prosecutor and United States Attorney.”

Ross plans to open a private practice in Birmingham in September.

Davidson previously served as a Deputy District Attorney in Montgomery County. He is a graduate of Auburn University Montgomery and received a law degree from the University of Alabama School of Law.

Davidson has also focused on violent offenders and narcotics.

The Middle District comprises 23 counties, including the cities of Alexander City, Andalusia, Auburn, Clanton, Dothan, Enterprise, Eufaula, Greenville, Montgomery, Opelika, Ozark, Phenix City, Prattville, Troy, and Wetumpka.
