The crash in Thomasville that killed two people in May of this year was highlighted in a speech that U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy gave about regulations on commercial driver’s licenses.

According to Fox 10 News, Duffy mentioned that the driver, Andrii Dmyterko, had less than three weeks of experience as a truck driver before becoming involved in the accident.

He added that Dmyterko had failed his skills test for speeding.

Duffy cited the incident as an example during a speech where he advocated for greater regulations on foreigners seeking licenses to operate large vehicles and to make employment-based visa and mandatory federal immigration status checks required.
