A University of Alabama graduate student studying the proposed Interstate 14 routes wants Dallas County residents to give their opinions about the impacts of the highway.

Jack Spalding, under the direction of Dr. Kevin M. Curtin, professor of geography and director of the Laboratory for Location Science, is studying how the proposed routes of I-14 would impact the people and the environment of Dallas County.

Spalding hosted a public meeting in April 2023, and now he would like residents to complete an online survey. The survey should take about eight minutes to complete, according to Spalding.

“The input that you provide will be used to help understand community preference regarding route choice for future Interstate 14, which could potentially serve Selma and Dallas County,” according to a flier distributed by Spalding.

Three routes are proposed through Dallas County for the east-west highway, all roughly paralleling Highway 80.
