UA to launch 16th Books for the Alabama Black Belt campaign

UA books campaign

The 16th annual Books for the Alabama Black Belt campaign will be kicked off by the University of Alabama's Center for Economic Development (UACED) on Jan. 31.

The campaign seeks to encourage people to donate K-12 for students in the counties of the Black Belt region, which includes Bullock, Butler, Choctaw, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Perry, Pickens, Sumter and Wilcox counties.

Books will be accepted through Feb. 25. Donations should be of new or gently used books that can be found on reading lists for K-12 students.

Donations can be brought to the campus in Honors Hall, Oliver-Barnard Hall, Reese Phifer Hall, Tuomey Hall and the Student Government Association office in the UA's Student Center.

They can also be brought to the off-campus donation box at the Mildred Westervelt Warner Transportation Museum, which is located at 1901 Jack Warner Parkway in Tuscaloosa.
