Vaughan donates for Respiratory Care Week

In celebration of Respiratory Care Week, respiratory therapists from Vaughan Regional Medical Center kicked off Girl Level Up’s Confidence Kits program by donating 100 kits to local girls.

Girl Level Up is a Selma nonprofit that empowers and inspires girls through education, exposure and support across the Selma community.

The Confidence Kits are assembled self-care packages filled with essential toiletries, sanitary products, self-care items, school supplies, and motivational materials. Each kit is intended to promote self-esteem, good hygiene, and a sense of worth and belonging among local girls.

“Our goal is to make sure every girl in Selma is equipped to rise to her full potential,” said Brittney Houser, founder and executive director of Girl Level Up Inc. “These kits are more than gifts. They’re messages of hope, empowerment, and belonging.”

The initiative aims to serve all girls in Selma by partnering with local school counselors to identify students in need and coordinate distribution. Kits will be distributed multiple times throughout the school year to provide consistent encouragement and engagement.

Houser said each Confidence Kit supports Girl Level Up’s broader mission to nurture the whole girl through hands-on programs in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, leadership, mental and physical wellness, self-esteem, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

The community is invited to donate items or sponsor kits to help reach more girls. Donations can be arranged or dropped off by emailing at info@girllevelup.org or by texting (334) 392-1960. Parents, guardians or school staff who wish to request Confidence Kits at the same contact info.
