The Montgomery community honored veterans with a parade that was held on Dexter Avenue and a Veterans Day Program at Riverfront Stadium on Monday.Â
In attendance were multiple organizations and agencies, including the Carver High School Army JROTC Color Guard Wolverine Battalion, the Montgomery Veterans Affairs Regional Office, the Air Force JROTC AL-011 and others.Â
Also in attendance were the Montgomery Fire/Rescue department, the Montgomery Police Department and city officials.Â
"We thank each and every military member for their service to this country and commitment to ensuring freedom," said a post on social media by Montgomery Fire/Rescue.
"From the 100 year old veteran down to those who served in numerous wars and operations, we say thank you for all you did for our country so that we can live in freedom."
Mayor Steven Reed shared a video on social media to commemorate veterans during the event.Â
"Their unwavering commitment to defending our freedoms and upholding our values is nothing short of extraordinary," he said. "Because of their courage, we enjoy the liberties that define our great nation."Â
"This Veterans Day, Montgomery County salutes the brave men and women who have served our nation with courage, commitment, and sacrifice," said a post by the Montgomery County Commission. "We honor those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom and inspiring a brighter future for us all."
