Wilcox Historical Society Tour of Homes set for March 23

The Wilcox Historical Society Tour of Homes is set for Saturday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Oak Hill and Camden. 

The tour features seven historic homes, two churches and other historic sites in the communities. 

Historic homes in Oak Hill include the Fox-Jones-Mitchell home, c. 1845, Twelve Oaks – the Kennedy-Griffin home, c. 1920s, the Dale-Kennedy-Neumann home, c. 1847, and the Jones-McWilliams home, c. late 1840s.

Other structures in the community include Bethel Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, c. 1895, Bear Creek Baptist Church, c. 1880, the Dale Brothers Store – Brittany House Antiques, c. 1870, and the Oak Hill School, c. 1926, which will feature a quilt display from local resident Betty Gaines Kennedy.

Featured homes in Camden will be RiverBend – the Bell-Moore-Jones home, c. 1840, the Bagby-Liddell-Burford home, c. 1847 and the Jones-McIntosh-Hicks home, c. 1860.

Registration will be held on Friday, March 22 in Camden at the Wilcox Female Institute on 301 Broad Street. On Saturday morning registration will be held at The Brittany House Antiques in Oak Hill on 5931 AL Highway 21, and all tickets holders will be provided a complimentary breakfast at 8:30.

A welcome reception will be held for VIP guests on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. on the grounds of Historic RiverBend Plantation in Camden.

2024 Keynote Speakers will be Laine and Kevin Berry of Our Restoration Nation. Music will be provided by Tammy Ward on Friday night.
