Bruce Hughes, a dedicated outdoorsman, conservationist, former Captain in the Alabama National Guard, and current member of the Valley Grande City Council passed away on June 13, 2024. Born on June 25, 1952, Bruce was known for his passion for nature and his unwavering commitment to preserving the environment.
Throughout his life, Bruce tirelessly worked to protect the natural world he held dear. His efforts in conservation left a lasting impact on both the local community and the environment at large. Bruce was an active member of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and Alabama Wildlife Federation (AWF).
Bruce is preceded by his parents James and Laura Sue Hughes.
Bruce leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon Wood Hughes, his children Kerri (Hilton) Hughes McLain, Johnathan Shayne (Jennifer) Hughes, and Forrest Eanes Hughes, as well as his grandchildren Carson and Grace McLain and Lockett and Evelyn Hughes. Bruce is also survived by his brother James N. Hughes.
In this time of mourning, friends and family are invited to join in celebrating Bruce's remarkable life at the "Celebration of Life" service to be held at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, Inc. located at 2900 Citizens Pkwy, Selma, AL 36701 on June 21, 2024. The service will begin at 6:00 PM and conclude at 7:00 PM.
Bruce Hughes will be deeply missed but never forgotten. May his passion for nature and dedication to conservation continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
